CMWU and Al Dameer have organized a ceremonial event at Grand Palace hotel in Gaza City sponsored by UNICEF on the occasion of World Water Day – Monday 22 March 2010. Where this event was preceded by massive awareness campaign in all Gaza Strip's governorates in order to revive the environmental and hygienic aspects. The Ceremony has witnessed the participation of expertise, expats, specialist, and related international and national agencies, all along with the children that took the lead in expressing the ceremony objectives.

The ceremony started with the national anthem followed by a speech for Eng. Sheikh R. (PWA Deputy Chairman) in which he emphasized on the importance of protection and the ecological sustainability of the available water resources in terms of quantity and quality.
In his turn, Eng. Shoblak M. (CMWU General Director) has welcomed the presence and expressed his gratitude for the vital part the UNICEF is carrying out. Eng, Shoblak has asserted in his speech that CMWU is seriously looking at the threatening  water and wastewater dilemma with respect to the slow-moving of the commitment process and the implementation of comprehensive and sustainable solutions that secure the resident's minimum needs. He also highlighted the harms  and problems caused by drilling the illegal domestic wells, where he stressed on preventing these activities to preserve the sole source of water in Gaza Strip (i.e. Gaza Aquifer).

Eng. Shoblak has demonstrated the CMWU achievements regarding the infrastructural conditions in Gaza Strip, starting from drying the Northern Wastewater lake in Beit Lahia city consequently diminishing its environmental hazardous, going down to Gaza City and the upgrading project of Gaza (Shiekh Ejleen) Wastewater Treatment Plant and many infrastructural ongoing projects that aim to protect both the human and the marine life. On the other hand, Eng. Shoblak has addressed as well the success stories in both Khanyunis & Rafah governorates, where vital and substantial infrastructural projects were implemented and still some on going that will aim eventually to lessening the environmental consequences, as he stressed that none of this would have been achieved without the generous support and fund from our esteemed partners like ICRC, KfW, QRC, IDB and many others.

Finally, Eng. Shoblak with his distinguished guests (Mr. Abu Shammala, Mr. Lorans, Mr. Kerts, Mr. Ajjor) have handed out presents and rewards to the children and the young for their painting and drawings participation in a touch that aim to promote the concept of Clean Water for Healthy World.
