Coastal Municipalities Water Utility

The Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU) is a Semi – Public entity financially independent, responsiblefor the water supply services, wastewater treatment and disposal and storm watercollection. The CMWU is a consolidation of the Water Services of 25Municipalities of Gaza Governorates.
The CMWU was established according toMinisterial Decree No (1) for the year 2000 issued by the Minister of LocalGovernment.

Gaza Emergency Water Project (GEWP)

The Palestine Liberationa Organization for the benefit of the Palestinian Authority has received financingfrom International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Gaza Emergency Water Project (GEWP). The objectives of the Project are to assist Palestinian Authority to: (a) Strengthening of the operation of the water supplyand wastewater systems in Gaza through a performance based management contract. (b) Rehabilitation, operation and maintenance of the water and wastewaterinfrastructure in Gaza. (c) Strengthening the institutional capacity of therelated parties through the provision of expert support in the areas of projectmanagement, accounting, sanitation services, licensing and technical andfinancial auditing. The Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU) is theservice provider for all water and wastewater services throughout all Gazastrip governorates.
